How should I use the officer_names field?
Last updated: September 26, 2026
officer_names is a list of people you already associate with the business, typically the owners, officers, or authorized signers declared during the application. Submitting them does three things:
Confirms the association. The response returns
business_officer_matchandregistered_agent_matchso you can see whether each declared person appears on the filing.Screens them against watchlists. Every submitted name is checked against the sanctions and exclusion lists alongside the officers we find.
Monitors them. If the business is added to Portfolio Monitoring, submitted names are included in ongoing screening even if they did not match a filed officer.
Tips:
Submit full names. First and last name are what the match uses; middle names and suffixes are ignored, and a first name alone will not match.
Use
alternative_namesfor DBAs and trade names, notofficer_names.You can include owners and signers who are not formally officers. A NO_MATCH result on them is expected and does not affect the KYB rating.
For liens and litigation on the same people, officers are not searched automatically. Pass them as additional_search_entities on those requests instead.
