How does the TIN result affect the KYB rating?
Last updated: September 15, 2026
The KYB rating evaluates the quality of the business verification search and initial company assessment.
It takes into account a business's registration status, how closely the name and address matched, its officers, and so on. TIN matching - if submitted - is a critical part of the scoring.
tin_matched=FALSE has a negative impact on the rating, but does not fail it on its own if every other signal is still positive.
TIN pending. If the IRS was unavailable, tin_matched is null and the rating would be computed without the TIN signal. Once the retry completes, the search is updated and the rating is recalculated.
For automated decisions, treat the TIN result and the rating as two separate inputs rather than expecting one to imply the other.
