How do I order Industry Prediction, and where do the results appear?
Last updated: September 26, 2026
Industry Prediction is not included in a business search by default. You order it in one of three ways:
On a business search: add
Order.NaicsPredictionto theoptionsarray onPOST /searches. The array can hold several add-ons at once, for example website analysis alongside industry prediction. On a web presence request: add the same option to
POST /web_presence_requestsif you are already running web presence checks and want industry included.Standalone:
POST /naics_prediction_requestswith the business name and address, and optionally a website, alternative names, officer names, and phone number. Use this when you want a classification without running a full search.
Industry Prediction results are the same across all 3 paths - these 3 options exist only to make this option as flexible as possible for our customers.
Where the result appears. The prediction runs as its own request after the search completes, so it arrives separately:
A
NAICSPredictionRequest.completedwebhook carries the prediction. ANAICSPredictionRequest.failedwebhook means we could not classify the business.GET /naics_prediction_requests/{id}returns the same object at any time, if you prefer to poll or need to re-fetch it.
The BusinessSearch.completed webhook always arrives before the industry prediction and website analysis webhooks, so you can safely treat the search as complete and attach the industry result when it follows.
If no industry data appears, the usual reasons are that the option was not included on the request, or the prediction request failed for that business. Check for the failed webhook or fetch the request by ID to see the error.
