How do `found_website` and `business_website_match` work?

Last updated: September 15, 2026

found_website is the website we identified as the business’s own site. We find it by searching the web for the business, by validating a website you submitted, or by inferring it from the business’s directory listings when several agree. If none of those produce a site we can stand behind, the field is null rather than a guess.

business_website_match tells you how the website you submitted compares to what we found:

  • True: the website you submitted is the one we identified as the business’s site. In this case found_website contains the same URL.

  • False: we found a different site for the business, or could not confirm yours.

  • business_website_redirect_match is true when the match was made through a redirect, for example an old domain you submitted that forwards to the site we found. That still counts as a match.

A null found_website means we could not confirm the website you submitted and could not independently find one. The site you submitted is still analyzed and reported separately.

The website_accuracy score is deprecated and will be removed. Treat found_website as our answer and business_website_match as the comparison, rather than applying your own cutoff to the score.
