Does watchlist screening run automatically on all officers/owners?

Yes. When a business search runs, we build the business profile from Secretary of State registrations and other sources, then screen the business name and every officer we find against the watchlists automatically.

What is screened on each search:

• Business name: the business name you submitted and the legal name of the matched registration.

• Alternative names: any names you submit in alternative_names and any recorded trade names or DBAs on the registration.

• Officers: any people you submit in officer_names and officers listed on the registration. Corporate registered agents and service-of-process contacts are excluded, since they are not owners or operators of the business.

Submitted officers and names are screened in addition to all the data we discover and compile as part of the business search, so use them to guarantee specific individuals are checked.

Each hit tells you the list it came from and the list entry that matched.
