Does a watchlist hit tell me which name triggered it?

No. A hit shows you the list it came from and the list entry that matched: the entry’s name, aliases, program, and other details from the list. It does not label whether the match came from the business name, one of its alternative names, an officer we found on the filings, or an officer name you submitted.
To attribute a hit, compare the matched entry’s name against the names in play on the search: the business and its alternative names, the officers on the returned registrations, and the officer names you sent. For individual hits the entry is a person, so the officer list is where the match will be. Treating that comparison as a possible match for a reviewer to confirm, rather than a settled one, is the right posture.
