Are Liens and Judgments part of KYB?

Last updated: September 11, 2026

Lien and judgment searches are a separate product from KYB, but they integrate directly with your KYB workflow.

You can run a lien search against:

  • A business_id or business_search_id from a KYB search

  • A person_id

  • Ad hoc by name, with POST /lien_searches/adhoc

Every lien search takes a list of search_states. For business searches you can pass null to search only the business’s domestic state. On person searches, liens can also be ordered directly on the search request with the Order.Liens option, which uses the state from the person’s address.

Including officers or guarantors. A business lien search only covers the business name unless you add people to it. Pass officers, guarantors, or DBAs in additional_search_entities, each with its own search_states. Results then carry search_entity_name and search_entity_type so you can see which entity each lien matched.

Billing. Lien searches are billed per entity per state searched, as a separate line item from KYB. Each additional entity you add is billed for each of its states, so a search across all 50 states incurs the lien charge 50 times for that entity.
