What information is provided for Liens and Judgments?
Last updated: September 11, 2026
Baselayer supports UCC, judgment, and federal, state, and local tax lien searches, including lien-document retrieval where the state makes the document available. We return both active and resolved liens, including resolution status, so you can identify satisfied or closed liens and reduce false positives from stale records.
There is no date cutoff. A lien search returns every filing on record for the searched name in the searched states, and paid-off, lapsed, or terminated liens still appear with their status and lapse date so you have the full history.
Lien fields include:
State
Filing number
Filing type (UCC, judgment, federal / state / local tax, etc.)
Filing date and lapse date
Status (Active, Lapsed, Terminated, and other resolution statuses)
Debtor and secured party names and addresses
Amendments (continuations, terminations, assignments, and other UCC-3 actions)
Collateral type and collateral statements
Lien amount for tax liens
Source document, where available
A few notes on how results are structured:
UCC-3s are never returned as standalone records. Every amendment is listed under the
amendmentsfield of the UCC-1 it modifies. If the secured party on a filing was masked when it was filed, the lien is still returned, with the masked party shown as such in the secured parties.
Each filing carries
search_entity_nameandsearch_entity_type(Business or Person), so you can tell whether it matched the business itself or an officer you added to the search.
