Can I download the actual lien / UCC documents?

Yes, when the SoS made the document available to Baselayer, which occurs for the majority of lien filings in the US. The full UCC document is frequently available to download.

Old documents prior to 2010 might not be accessible depending on the state. Availability depends on the specific Secretary of State and filing date. Some states keep tidy, accessible document databases; others are harder to retrieve from. The majority of documents are available, but not 100%.

In the console, Download Lien Documents is enabled on a lien when a document is available:

Via the API, a filing with a document_filename has a document available. GET /lien_searches/{search_id}/filings/{filing_id} returns a signed URL to the combined PDF.

For filings made through Baselayer, the state’s filed PDF is under Download PDF in the console or GET /lien_submissions/{filing_id}/filed_document.
