Why is my lien filing stuck in the same status?
Last updated: September 26, 2026
First, check the filing’s status:
Requested or In Review: our filing team is still verifying it.
Submitted: it is with the state, which is processing it.
Needs Attention: we are waiting on you. Open the filing and review your email to see what needs to change, then resubmit.
Submitted is where most waiting happens. Some states review each filing manually before responding, so turnaround varies by state. The slowest states are typically:
Hawaii, Indiana, and Arizona, which require filings to be physically mailed.
Georgia, where UCCs are filed through county clerks rather than a single state office.
Avoiding Needs Attention loops. South Dakota and North Dakota require a tax ID (EIN for businesses, SSN for individuals) on every debtor. Filings in those states without one will be sent back.
